Christmas is coming soon and I have some thoughts on life and death as it means to me. Jesus was born and died to save us from ourselves. We are humans and we make mistakes. Jesus was God Incarnate so he was without flaws and sins. He was perfect. We can never be perfect. So, I thank God that He sent Jesus to take away our sins and help us through life. We celebrate His birth at Christmas time because of that very fact. He was not just a little baby born like the rest of us. He was God coming down to Earth in the form of a human to show us how much He loves us. God IS love.
I’ve always had a hard time dealing with the fact that God sent his only Son to live and die for us. But, as I’ve gotten older I realize that Jesus was actually God Himself dying for us. The Holy Trinity of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit being one and the same, has finally made sense to me. God wasn’t cruelly letting His Son die on the Cross alone. God, Himself, in the body of Jesus was dying for us because He loved us so much. He created us in His image and that’s how much He loves us. I love my grandson so much that I would gladly step in front of a moving train to save him – and, I’m NOT a brave person. My family teases me that I’m afraid of my own shadow. But, I would do it to save him. That’s how much I love him. So, it is with God. That’s how much He loves us.
